Auctioneer
Jason has 15+ years of experience with scrap metal and industrial entrepreneurship and possesses a natural mechanical inclination. He’s the mastermind behind Southern Minnesota Auctions. Armed with coffee, one of his many Carhartt shirts, and his entrepreneurial spirit, he’s committed to reusing, recycling, or repurposing anything that comes across his work bench.
OFFICE MANAGER
Kimberly is a creative professional with a background in marketing, photography, graphic design, and web design. She uses these skills when it comes to showcasing products on the auction site, facilitating firearm and vehicle sales, and keeping the website up and running. She’s the one to talk to when you’re ready to pay for your auction purchases or set up a consultation for having your own upcoming auction.
Ebay guru/technician
Mikey has over 20 years of experience as a mechanical drafter and engineer. Looking for a change of pace, he and his dog Shuggy packed up and moved to the area to join Jason & Kimberly in January of 2020. With his years of electronic and mechanical experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the company and has become an integral part of the day to day operations.
Human resources
Petie is our rescued shop dog. You can usually find him at the shop curled up in the corner. He accompanies us to many of our off-site auction pickups, too! His favorite pastimes are sleeping, eating, snuggling, and sleeping some more.
2014
Jason started NPS Industrial Surplus’s eBay store as a side business. As the inventory grew (in both quantity and bulk), it quickly outgrew the garage where it had originated. Additional storage units in the area, forklifts, pallet racking, an enclosed trailer, and other tools and equipment were added to accommodate the vast inventory.
2017
A semi with a 48′ trailer was added to our fleet and made it possible for us to transport more product. Jason’s wife, Kimberly, also joined as an active partner in the business.
2018
NPS Industrial Surplus moved into a 3,600 square foot facility that houses multiple photo studios, a mailing and packaging center, supply storage, and a warehouse to contain our ever-expanding inventory.
2019
NPS Industrial Surplus joins K-BID as an affiliate, gaining access to over 300,000 bidders across the United States. Utilizing this online auction platform, we’re able to get our customers’ assets in front of the correct audience to maximize their success in reducing their inventory.
2020
Jason’s brother, Mikey, joined the company at the beginning of the year. With his added support, NPS Industrial Surplus was able to exponentially grow their Online Auction sales as well as their presence on eBay.
2021
NPS Industrial Surplus adds on an additional 3,500 square feet to their warehouse space to make room for NPS Auctions. Monthly Consignment Auctions are implemented.
2023
NPS Auctions changes their name to Southern Minnesota Auctions to better describe their services. Additional online auction services are added to make Southern Minnesota Auctions more valuable as a brand and increase growth. This includes utilizing new auction software to bring their customer’s assets to the masses.
2024
Southern Minnesota Auctions begins to sell their wares on the app Whatnot in addition to their regular Online Auctions.
Southern Minnesota Auctions is a family-owned business with roots that run deep in Midwestern Values.
